This digital commerce growth has brought a new kind of cybercrime: fake online shops. These stores offer fictitious products or products that are never received by the shoppers. Some are presented as new stores with special grand opening discounts, however, many imitate other brand’s aesthetics, using the same logos, pictures or popular slogans even a very similar to the original site URL address.

Know company’s legal information
Spanish companies meet legal requirements included in several legislative laws. Each one provides an activity regulation that implicate specific obligations. Privacy policies, contact information or general terms and service conditions must be detailed at the e-commerce site. As well as:
- Web site’s owner
- NIF/CIF identification number
- Registered office
- Purchase, returns and claims policies.
- Intellectual property.
Verify SSL certificates
All data exchange process between users and the e-commerce must be encrypted by a HTTPS protocol. This secure communication protocol appears at the beginning of the URL. This process generates a digital certificate that indicates the data sent can’t be intercepted.
If you are on a site without the code HTTPS, don’t place any order or do any transaction nor provide any bank details because cyber criminals might detect them.
