Summer uses to be the best time to visit all kinds of events. Holidays and the wide offer of festivals that use to take place make an explosive mix. But this year is marked by pandemic’s effect. And prevention and security catch up many of the big festivals.
In today’s article we do a quick review to the most popular and renowned and we explain you how coronavirus has affected them.
CMA Fest
Nashville’s CMA Fest is one of the most emblematic country music festivals around the world. It usually takes place during June’s first weeks with hundreds of live concerts and performances distributed in more than ten stages along several days. This year’s edition, which was the 49th has been postponed until June 10-13 of 2021.
But there will be a CMA Fest on streaming with ABC TV Special and Brand New Live Stream Event sponsorship. July’s 1st and 13th night two special programs entirely dedicated to country music will be presented.
On day 1st, entitled “CMA Summer Stay-Cay presented by Budweiser Nitro Gold,” and hosted by Allen and Lindsay Ell will be aired on streaming by YouTube and Facebook. A spectacle that will count with more than 50 country music stars.
On day 13th, hosted by country star Luke Bryan, entitled “CMA Best of Fest”. Will consist on a 3 hours long program that ABC TV Chanel will broadcast and will count with artists like Trace Adkins, Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan himself, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Luke Combs, and many more.
Voghera Country Festival
This year’s 13th edition of Voghera Country Festival would have taken place at the small Italian city of Voghera, very close to Milano. One of Europe’s most important country events. They have decided postpone the festival until next year’s June 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th. At the moment, the only confirmed artist was the Singer Brett Kissell that had to perform on Saturday June 27th at Voghera’s Cowboys Guest Ranch Palatexas.
Huercasa Country Festival
Between days 10th and 12th of July it was expected to take place at the Segovian village of Riaza the popular Huercasa Country Festival. One of the biggest events of country and americana music in celebrated in Spain, already reaching the 7th edition.
It was confirmed the presence of artists like Nasville’ Singer Nikki Lane, Los Lobos y los texanos The South Austin Moonlighters and Mike & The Moonpies; as national groups like AllWoods and Riders of The Canyon. This year’s edition presented a wider program than previous ones with many names and surprises. But, regretfully, coronavirus crisis has forced the organization to cancel it for this year.
SummerTyne Americana Festival
Another country and americana music related event that is worth the visit and this year will neither be possible is the SummerTyne Americana Festival. It uses to take place during July’s third weekend next to Tyne river in Sage Gateshead (England). It’s a huge festival that attracts visitors from all over the world.
This year’s edition would have counted with stars of the quality of KD Lang, Alvin Youndblood Hart’s Muscle Theory, Roosevelt Collier, The Wandering Hearts, Lauren Alaina, Catherine McGrath, The Local Honeys, Kiefer Sutherland (that presented his latest album), Jesse Dayton or Sarah Darling.
Dates have been postponed to next year’s July 17th and 18th.
Piknik Country Festival
The one that is confirmed that will be celebrating is the 39th Międzynarodowy Festiwal Piknik Country & Folk w Mrągowie that takes place on July’s 24th and 25th at Lake Czos amphitheater in Mragowo city (Poland).
Is practically the only chance to enjoy a country music festival with a certain entity in the European continent. And, it’s really worth of it. It’s a big event that totally transforms the little village of Mragowo, invaded by country music and motorcycles fans. Unlike previous editions, this year’s lineup is entirely formed by national artists.
Salardú Country-Rock Festival
The one that won’t be celebrating this year is the 7th Salardú Country-Rock Festival that had to take place between days 27th and 30th of august at Val d’Aran region (Catalonia/Spain). Without confirmed artists, promised to be a great event with workshops, plenty of shows and concerts, shops and many surprises that are postponed to next year’s august.
The truth is that except for some festivals in the United States, most part of the events have been cancelled or postponed until next year. This doesn’t seem to be a good year to enjoy live country music. But this isn’t excuse to show our style if we feel like. A western hat is still a great accessory to cover from the sun.
